"Time moves relentlessly forward and as mortals, subject to time and
space, we experience this movement as change, aging, and loss. Photographs
represent the Human desire to arrest the movement of time, just for an
instant."
John Coon

BEST PLACE TO WORK OUT(typed directly from the Houston Press) |
The Yoga Center of Houston, 1605 Banks Street Return to your office after a lunchtime workout invigorated, toned -- and with your knees intact. Amazingly, the tranquil discipline of yoga can do this for you and more. John Coon, whose mirrored Yoga Center exudes the spare grace of a ballet studio, imparts yoga's physical and mental benefits with equal passion. This is a guy who quit his post as vice president of the Houston Yoga Association because, he says, they wanted to list any old someone with $17 as a yoga teacher. Coon was clearly concerned with principle, not competition: we figure anyone who can make a nest out of his arms and legs and rest his head on the sole of his foot must have a certain edge in this field. |

Tibetan lamas from Sera-Je Monastery constructed the sand mandala of Hayagriva at The Museum of Fine Arts in February 1996. They turned John's house into "Little Tibet"during their two week stay! Yoga Center students and instructors alike enjoyed collaborating with the gracious staff of The Museum. |
